Have you heard the phrase “bang for the buck”? It’s when you get a value for your money spent. Well, the motor Pulsar here screams that.
My previous motor, Honda EX5 Dream, also my first bike seems to have reached it’s limit after a strong 7 years run. So I decided to change my bike and deem farewell to my EX5.
I surveyed for 6 months throughout the internet to determine the best bike to buy. I wanted a bike with higher CC compared to my previous bike which was only 110CC and also at a lower price. After strong research, I manage to shortlist to 6 bikes:-
• KTM DUKE 200
• KTM RC 200
• Yamaha R15
• Yamaha Y15
• Modenas Pulsar NS200
• Modenas Pulsar RS200
Now from this list, I listed out Yamaha Y15 because I don’t want an underbone bike. And it was also easy to remove KTM bikes from the list because the price was just way too high for the specifications. After some thinking, I realized that have a full fairing bike isn’t the most practical way. But as I am alone for now, it’s best to buy a full fairing bike to enjoy the advantages of a full fairing bike. With that, I removed Modenas Pulsar NS200. The final showdown came to…..
Yamaha R15 vs Modenas Pulsar RS200

I’m sure all of us have to go through a dilemma like this. Well, it was a crazy time for me to decide between this two bikes. The pros and cons were literally there and yet it’s hard to get the best of both bikes.
Let me list down a few pros and cons which I felt was important
Yamaha R15
• PROS
✓ Solid Build
✓ The design it’s like a mini Yamaha R1
✓ Variable Valve Actuation, in laymen terms smoother riding
✓ Slipper Clutch, smooth transition between gears
•CONS
× Riding position is bad for long distance
× No ABS
× approximately RM1000 extra compared to Pulsar RS200
Modenas Pulsar RS200
•PROS
✓ 200CC engine
✓ Comfortable Riding Position
✓ Single Channel ABS
✓ The front design looks astonishing
✓ Triple spark plugs, faster pick up
•CONS
× Vibration is high
× Spare parts are slightly harder to get compared to R15, but manageable
× Accessories are hard to get
Now with this in my head, it took me 2 weeks to decide but with the help of Facebook groups of RS200 and R15 I joined, I realized that Pulsar RS200 are way much more cheaper and suitable for me. Also, I test ride both bikes and seriously the vibrations didn’t bother me at all and Pulsar was way more comfortable for me. With that I traded in my retired Honda EX5 for Modenas Pulsar RS200 on the 1st July 2019.
